Those early 1438cc, 1592cc and 1608cc cars built from 1966-74 have dropped 6.3% since our last update as the interest generated by the halo of the new Mazda MX-5-based model has started to wear off.

If you want to take on a project car, budget around £3.8k, £9.8k for something usable. Fault-free examples are half as much again and concours cars will make £22.5k. Although we’ve passed the initial spike in interest provoked by the new car, I’d expect the ongoing greater awareness created by it to help classic values in the long term. But for now it makes sense to see how much further that halo will slip before you make your move.
