Visitors, up 20% on last year to 48,000, were treated to more glamorous cars and exhibits than ever before. A 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, one of 350 series II cars built, in eye-catching Gallo Fly (yellow) beat a glittering variety of Meguiar’s Concours finalists to win Best In Show.

The Ferrari Owners Club stand took rarity and desirability to the next level with a 1959 250 GT long wheelbase California Spider (one of 104) and a highly original 1954 250 GT Europa (one of 21), freshly returned to Europe after spending most of its life in California, along with the 1963 250 Lusso once owned by actor Steve McQueen.

The Maserati Club fought back with huge display of models from the marque’s glory years, ranging from the subtle elegance of a Mexico to the rare extravagance of a 5000 GT (one of 32), albeit with the most numerous Allemano bodywork.

Visitors came to the show to buy as well as look, taking away £0.5m worth of cars by the close of play on Sunday with many dealers having to replenish stock overnight on the Friday and Saturday to keep up.
